One unit of English is required at each grade level. The English curriculum features two levels within each grade with instructional materials and objectives in the respective levels directed toward the different interests and abilities of the students.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Although a foreign language credit is not required for graduation from RHS, it is strongly encouraged, especially for students planning to attend a four-year college or university. Foreign language classes also help meet the course requirements for many of the career clusters. Students learn the fundamentals of the language in French I and Spanish I courses. French is offered online through Virtual Arkansas, while Spanish is offered through direct instruction at RHS.

JOURNALISM
If students are interested in writing, photography, design, and publishing, these courses are for them. These courses also are helpful in career paths of law, political science, publishing, broadcasting, graphic design, and others.
