Hoops for Hunger Reaches Record Success in its Sixth Year

\r\n

Hoops for Hunger saw a huge success in December of 2021 raising $60,000 for local food banks. This kind of success brings the total funds raised since the creation of the tournament six years ago to just over $300,000 for donations to local food charities across the River Valley.

Russellville School District Athletic Director Johnny Johnsonpraised the commitment of the volunteers, coaches, title, and corporate sponsors who have made this a continued success, “it is so rewarding and gratifying to see that after six years we are able to fight hunger in the River Valley.

\r\n

I am personally grateful to be able to continue this tradition and to see it become such a success in our community.”

\r\n

The 2021 recipients were River Valley Food Kids, The Manna House, and The Pottsville Community Pantry. These three worthy organizations provide thousands of meals to our community to help alleviate hunger.

Kyle Hood said he was especially thankful to have been able to have the tournament this year after last year’s being canceled due to Covid, and said he was grateful to their sponsors for all of their continued support going into this year.

Hood said that the majority of title sponsors have supported the tournament since its creation.

\r\n

“It is a testament to our sponsors and our community and shows the worthiness of this cause to have the same sponsors come back every year.”
