The Cyclone Quiz Bowl team advanced to their 10th straight state finals with a dominating performance this past Saturday after defeating teams from Van Buren, Sylvan Hills, Texarkana, and Little Rock Catholic. The Cyclones will play Sheridan live on Arkansas PBS on April 26th for a chance to win their 9th straight state title!

The Future Cyclones Extravaganza was a great success! Families from across the district joined us at Sequoyah Elementary to learn all about Kindergarten at RSD and what it means to begin the journey as a Cyclone.

🌟 Classroom Spotlight: Coach Lemley’s 3rd Period Class! 📚✨
At Russellville Middle School, students in Mr. Lemley’s class dove into the three branches of government with creativity! 🏛️✏️ Students crafted unique similes, complete with explanations of how their comparisons accurately reflect the branches working together.

RSD Board Members Holli Hall and Donna Hindsman recently presented at the National Consortium of State School Boards Associations (COSSBA) Conference, sharing insights on RSD's approach to stakeholder engagement. Their presentation highlighted how RSD fosters meaningful connections with its community through initiatives such as the Faith Council, PTO Council, Community Champions for RSD, the RSD Staff Ambassadors program, and the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Team.
💡 At their March meeting, the RSD Staff Ambassadors had the opportunity to hear from Human Resources Director Ms. Cox and Student Support Services Director Dr. Turner about how their departments play a vital role in supporting the district’s mission of student success. From recruiting and retaining top educators to providing essential student services, their work ensures every student has the resources and support needed to thrive!

🏫 School Safe Rooms 🏫
Safe rooms are located at all elementary schools, RIS, RMS, RJHS. Two are located at RHS. During the school day when students are present, safe room use is limited to the students and staff members in the building. Safe rooms will be full during this time.
RSD safe rooms are open to the public after school hours. Doors will be unlocked when sirens go off. FEMA suggests that only those persons within a five minute driving radius try to get to the shelter during a tornado warning.
